A Personal Message
Why I Chose the Angling Trust
“I chose the Angling Trust as one of the beneficiaries of
Our Jewels in the Water because, after more than 60 years
in angling, I feel strongly that we have a responsibility to protect
the fish, fisheries and waterways that have given us so much enjoyment.
This project is my way of celebrating Britain’s wonderful freshwater
fish while also giving something back and helping to ensure that future
generations can experience the pleasure of angling that I have enjoyed
throughout my life.”

More Than a Book
A Lifetime’s Passion Became a Project
Our Jewels in the Water grew from a lifetime spent beside
Britain’s rivers, lakes and canals and a fascination with the remarkable
fish that live beneath their surface.
The project brings together freshwater natural history,
angling stories, conservation, beautiful imagery and original music
— celebrating everything from the familiar roach, perch and tench
to some of the lesser-known species found in our waters.
